Warcop Remote Cinema – Spring Season Films

Here are the films for the spring season:

15 February – The Whale – starring Brendan Fraser

Idaho, 2016. Scarred by the profound wounds of grief and guilt, couchbound Charlie, an online writing instructor living with chronic obesity, now has a crystal-clear view of his secret intentions. And confined to his claustrophobic and musty apartment, the self-destructive shut-in has all the time in the world to contemplate the damaging faults of the past, fatherhood, and reconciliation.

21 March – The Old Oak – Directed by Ken Loach – set in County Durham. A pub landlord in a previously thriving mining community struggles to hold onto his pub. Meanwhile, tensions rise in the town when Syrian refugees are placed in empty houses.

18 April – The Lost King – Based on a true-story. Guided by instinct and spectral visions, an ambitious writer and amateur historian defies the academic establishment to unearth Richard III’s long-missing remains in a Leicester car park. Stars Steve Coogan and Sally Hawkins.

16 May – The Great Escaper – Glenda Jackson’s final film performance alongside Micheal Caine. Based on the true story of Bernard Jordan who escaped from his care home to attend the 70th Anniversary of the D-Day landings in France.

20 June – Scrapper – In this British comedy-drama, Georgie, a dreamy 12-year-old girl, lives happily alone in her London flat, filling it with magic. Suddenly, her estranged father turns up and forces her to confront reality.
