Warcop Remote Cinema – Spring Season Films

Here are the films for the spring season:

15 February – The Whale – starring Brendan Fraser

Idaho, 2016. Scarred by the profound wounds of grief and guilt, couchbound Charlie, an online writing instructor living with chronic obesity, now has a crystal-clear view of his secret intentions. And confined to his claustrophobic and musty apartment, the self-destructive shut-in has all the time in the world to contemplate the damaging faults of the past, fatherhood, and reconciliation.

21 March – The Old Oak – Directed by Ken Loach – set in County Durham. A pub landlord in a previously thriving mining community struggles to hold onto his pub. Meanwhile, tensions rise in the town when Syrian refugees are placed in empty houses. 

18 April – The Lost King – Based on a true-story. Guided by instinct and spectral visions, an ambitious writer and amateur historian defies the academic establishment to unearth Richard III’s long-missing remains in a Leicester car park. Stars Steve Coogan and Sally Hawkins.

16 May – The Great Escaper – Glenda Jackson’s final film performance alongside Micheal Caine. Based on the true story of Bernard Jordan who escaped from his care home to attend the 70th Anniversary of the D-Day landings in France.

20 June – Scrapper – In this British comedy-drama, Georgie, a dreamy 12-year-old girl, lives happily alone in her London flat, filling it with magic. Suddenly, her estranged father turns up and forces her to confront reality.

Please note that the screening times are 7.30pmwith the doors opening at 7.15pm. This is to accommodate another activity in the Hall just prior to the film.

Warcop Remote Cinema – Spring Screenings

Thursday 17 February

Spencer (12A)

A drama starring Kristen Steward as Diana, Princess of Wales

The marriage between Princess Diana and Prince Charles has long since grown cold. Though rumours of affairs and a divorce abound, peace is ordained for the Christmas festivities at the Queen’s Sandringham estate. There’s eating and drinking, shooting and hunting. Diana knows the game, but this year, things will be profoundly different.

Respect (PG)

A biopic starring Jennifer Hudson

Following the rise of Aretha Franklin’s career — from a child singing in her father’s church choir to her international superstardom — it’s the remarkable true story of the music icon’s journey to find her voice.

Thursday 21 April

Saving Grace (PG)

A comedy starring Brenda Blethan, Bill Bailey & Martin Clunes

Following the sudden death of her husband, Grace has been left with a manor on the Cornish Coast – and the massive, suffocating mountain of debt her husband had been secretly amassing. Now, with creditors and repossessors on her heels, Grace is faced with the prospect of losing everything. Desperate times call for desperate measures!

Thursday 19 May

King Richard (12A)

A drama starring Will Smith

Armed with a clear vision and a brazen, 78-page plan, Richard Williams is determined to write his two daughters, Venus and Serena, into history. Training on tennis courts in Compton, California, Richard shapes the girls’ unyielding commitment and keen intuition. Together, the Williams family defies seemingly insurmountable odds and the prevailing expectations laid before them.

Never Too Late (PG)

A comedy starring James Cromwell and Dennis Waterman

A group of elderly people decide to break out of their retirement home but end up in unexpected and hilarious situations.

Hopkins won the Best Actor Oscar for his performance.
