Warcop Parish Council Vacancy

We are very pleased to say that Katie Hauser from Warcop has applied to become our new Parish Councillor following John Heron stepping down. Her appointment will be confirmed at our September meeting and we are looking forward to working with her in our aim to improve our community as much as possible and to represent the views of residents across a range of issues.

However, we are sad to see thet Georgie Fell is stepping down as a councillor as she is expecting her first baby and is finding it hard to balance her work and home commitments. We thank her for all her excellent work and hope that she will return to the council at some point in the future.

Anyone who is interested in becoming a Parish Councilor should contact me on 41390 or the Clerk, Heidi Strong, on 41102.

Superfast Broadband for Sandford now Live!

At long last, Sandford now has access to superfast broadband speeds following work to connect the green box to an electrical supply. It is understood that orders are now being taken, so customers should contact their internet providers to seek the best deals and start to benefit from the faster speeds they should experience.

New Noticeboard for Bleatarn

Warcop Parish Council has purchased a new noticeboard for Bleatarn and this has now been erected outside Bleatarn Chapel. It replaces the old one which wasn’t exactly watertight! It is a slightly bigger size in order to reduce overcrowded notices. This is the third new noticeboard that the Parish Council has installed as part of its aim to improve facilities in our Parish.

Many thanks to Max Voican for giving up his time and for doing such a good job.

New Chairs for the Hall

Local residents will be relieved and pleased to hear that Warcop Parish Hall has now taken delivery of 120 brand new chairs which are chrome in colour and have blue cushions and backing. This will ensure that future functions at the hall will be a far more comfortable affair – and especially our monthly Remote Cinema nights!

Pictures to follow…

Some of the old grey plastic chairs have been given to Musgrave Village Hall and Warcop Methodist Chapel. There are about 60 remaining chairs in storage which are available to any local groups who might need them.

Great North Air Ambulance Collection – Record Total!

Thank you so much to everyone who brought so many bags to the hall for our December bag collection to support the Great North Air Ambulance. They inform us that our bags weighed 690 kilograms which translated into £759 for their charity. This is the highest amount we have ever raised for them so thank you again. We hope many of you also called into the Coffee Morning and had a bacon roll!

Our next collection will be in the summer of 2019, probably in July, so keep some bags handy ready to fill them again!

War Memorial Improvements

20181101_230802Our Warcop War Memorial has recently been repaired and renovated to help ensure it is ready for the Remembrance Day, which this year marks 100 years since the end of the first world war. As you may know, the War Memorial has recently been designated a Grade II listed War Monument.

The Parish Council would like to thank Max Voican for repairing some rotten posts and Steve and Yvonne Burnett for their wonderful work in painting the posts, chains, wreath-holder and kerb stones. They have also laid fresh gravel.

I am sure you will agree that it looks fantastic and is a fitting tribute to those fallen soldiers commemorated on the plaques.

New Parish Councillor Appointed

Following the resignation of Amanda Daldry, we are pleased to announce that the vacancy has now been filled by Clive Allen, a resident of Sandford. Clive has already contributed a great deal to the work of the Parish Hall as a co-opted Trustee and we are delighted that we will be able to benefit from his experience and skills on local issues.
